We couldn’t skip out on an AMD RX 9070 XT review considering how well the new graphics cards are performing right now. AMD released its affordable AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT on March 6, 2025, and it has received some sparkling reviews from everyone who has had a chance to take a look at it. The RX 9070 XT specs, while inferior to the RTX 4080, are nothing to scoff at and come at a much more affordable price of $599. 

The 9070 XT’s performance still has to be put under testing for extended periods to see whether it performs or struggles with debilitating issues like Nvidia’s RTX 50 Series has faced since launch. Should you buy the RX 9070 XT? We think it’s a good investment for your next PC build.

AMD RX 9070 XT Review: Specs, Price, and Other Details 

AMD has long been the underdog in the graphics card battle against Nvidia, struggling to keep up with the performance and scale of Nvidia’s productions. The company has worked hard to establish itself as a more affordable alternative to the leader in the market, but this has regularly come at the cost of specs that users don’t want to go without.

This time, however, it appears that AMD has a winner on its hands with the RX 9070 XT’s specs and pricing. There is also evidence to suggest the stocks won’t run dry like they did with Nvidia’s recent graphics cards, which could give AMD an edge and draw in consumers who are currently waiting to find an Nvidia card for their builds. Many of the retailers in the US have already sold out, but perhaps AMD will be able to meet the demand better in the coming weeks.

RX 9070 XT Specs—How Much VRAM will the 9070 XT Have?

AMD’s first RDNA 4 GPUs, the Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT include enhanced compute units, ray tracing accelerators, and AI accelerators to suit the needs of modern customers. 

The RDNA 4 architecture is particularly advanced in the RX 9070 XT, which has 8 additional compute accelerators and 16 AI processors. Although the RX 9070 XT has fewer compute units than the 7900 XT—64 vs. 84—the improved shader cores allow for a substantial boost in performance.

The introduction of FidelityFX Super Resolution 4, or FSR 4 for AI-powered upscaling is a major selling point of the new graphics card. Users may witness a drop in performance using FSR 4 however, so those who want to opt out of it can do so and still rely on FSR 3.1.

The RX 9070 XT specs showcase 16GB GDDR6 VRAM and a 256-bit interface and achieve 48.7 TFLOPS (teraflops) for FP32 calculations which are a fundamental part of the graphics rendering process. The 1557 TOPS for INT4 AI Compute should allow it to handle AI tasks exceptionally by leveraging sparsity.

AMD RX 9070 XT Power and Connectivity Features

For those worried about the power system, the RX 9070 XT specs mention standard dual 8-pin PCI-E power connectors that simplify upgrades for users with a 700W PSU. The standard format includes three DisplayPort 2.1a and one HDMI 2.1b, typical for modern GPUs. A USB-C port would have been a welcome addition but users can still comfortably make do without it.

The RX 9070 XT’s rated power consumption is slightly higher at 304W than the 7900 XT’s 300W, but real-world usage will show that the difference is minimal. Not only does the RX 9070 XT’s performance meet AI computing needs, but it also serves as an excellent companion for 4K gaming, which is what we expect most buyers will seek out. 

RX 9070 XT Price: The Cost Is a Major Consideration Here

The AMD RX 9070 XT review of the specs shows that it is a far superior offering from AMD than many we’ve seen before, but instead of pricing it as only marginally cheaper than the Geforce RTX 5070 Ti, we have a 21% difference to enjoy here. The Radeon RX 9070 XT is priced at $599, compared to the $749 RTX 5070 Ti or the $899 RX 7900 XT. 

Getting one of the most powerful AMD cards at a more reasonable price than what we’re seeing on the market right now could be what allows AMD to catch up to Nvidia in 2025.

AMD RX 9070 XT Availability: Where To Buy The RX 9070 XT?

The RX 9070 XT’s performance is attractive and it seems the consumers agree as well because a large number of retailers have already sold out their stocks. Despite early retailer claims of sufficient stock to meet consumer demands, platforms like Newegg, Best Buy, and B&H, have already sold out their initial stock. Amazon is a good place to check for recurring sales. If you’re in the US and can physically travel to a Micro Center store, you might find sufficient stock to make your purchase.

Consumers in the UK may have a better chance of getting their hands on the AMD RX 9070 XT for their own review of its performance, with platforms like Box, Ebuyer, Scan, and Overclockers still showing product availability. Unfortunately, the scalper-level pricing makes it harder to actually place an order.

It is very likely that stocks will continue to run low for the foreseeable future, and unless you keep your eyes on these primary websites to cash in on a sale, you’ll have to wait a few months before testing out the AMD RX 9070 XT’s specs for yourself.

Final Thoughts: Where We Stand In Our AMD RX 9070 XT Review

After the hyper-fixation on the Nvidia graphics card early in the year, we’re seeing a general shift towards the AMD RX 9070 XT, and for good reason. The improved memory, AI accelerators for FSR 4 upscaling, and overall support for 4K gaming make the AMD RX 9070 XT’s performance noteworthy under almost any of the demanding conditions you might employ the card, and it all starts with an MSRP of $599, even if it’s hard to get your hands on it at that price.

Nvidia’s DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation feature still comes out on top all things considered, but AMD is putting up a good fight. Its FSR 4 functionality still needs some work, but it’s far from being a lost cause. The RX 9070 XT is easily the best AMD graphics card to buy in 2025.

Any single company dominating the industry can allow the business to become complacent about improving performance, so it’s good to see others step up to the challenge and offer them some competition. The RX 9070 XT could be AMD’s card to find great success in 2025 if it manages to replenish stock as fast as consumers are depleting them.
