Expect another Analogue 3D delay as the console maker isn’t ready to ship its latest product yet. Ever since the 4K N64 console remake was announced, fans have been patient with Analogue trying to wait for the company to bring out the console at its own pace. Initially, the Analogue 3D had a 2024 release window that was promptly changed to Q1 2025, but that seemed like a small wait for the nostalgia-fueled experience that the console promised.
After the lack of any updates from the company for the last few months, we’ve finally received official confirmation that the Analogue 3D release date will be set sometime in July 2025. It’s hard to take the manufacturer’s word for it at this stage, but it’s all we have for now. The Analogue 3D preorder option is closed for now, which may indicate the required order numbers have already been met and surpassed.

Finally! An update on the Analogue 3D and its delayed release in July 2025.
Analogue 3D Delay Announced: 4K N64 Console Releases In July 2025
Retro gaming manufacturer Analogue has a history of bringing niche gaming products back onto the market, reviving the bygone eras of gaming with consoles that spark joy. The portable Analogue Pocket has been our favorite release, and despite some flaws, it still looks great, plays great, and reminds us of spending days after school playing on the Game Boy. Good times and good memories reviewed.
Now we were hoping the Analogue 3D would be able to do the same by bringing back the Nintendo 64 console and its compatibility with the wizened cartridges, but the company has been testing how long we’re willing to wait to make it happen.
After a long delay for an Analogue 3D release date to be announced, we’d written about some clever Twitter/X users who used the Analogue 3D-related 8BitDo update for the controller to deduce that we would not be seeing a release for the console before June 30, 2025. As it turns out, they were right the whole time.
Analogue 3D Pre-order FAQ: What Does the Announcement Say?
Our first sign that the Analogue 3D’s launch date was being changed was when we noticed that the pre-order page that said “Out of Stock,” now also showed that the Q1 release was scratched out to reveal a July 2025 release window.
The company also made the announcement on the Twitter/X page, informing customers that the Analogue 3D had been delayed. A link to a blog page provided a more elaborate explanation, but not one that delved into why the console was being delayed.
Analogue 3D shipping is delayed (as of March 18th, 2025) and is now shipping by July 2025. We are working hard to get your 3D order in hands asap and appreciate your patience. If you have an open preorder no action is needed.
Can the Analogue 3D Pre-orders Be Cancelled?
If you’re among those who jumped in early when orders for the $249.99 console were opened in October last year, you may be rethinking your order. If you don’t feel so sure about your purchase, you have the option of canceling it right now. Speaking about the Analogue 3D preorder process, the company explained that they have a “no questions asked, 100% refund policy” for those who want to opt out of ordering the product.
For the customers who are still eager to get their hands on the 4K N64 console from Analogue, you will have to continue waiting for future updates from the company. Analogue clarified that waiting customers will receive an email a week before shipping begins to confirm the shipping address, so they’ll know when to start preparing for the delivery of their very own consoles.
While the delay in the Analogue 3D has been frustrating for many, we’re glad the company has finally provided an update on what to expect so fans can temper their expectations accordingly.

The Analogue 3D’s design and functionality are both promising, but how long will customers wait for its release?
What Else Did the Analogue Update Say?
Analogue’s 3D release window has been updated but the company also took a moment to acknowledge its other products. If you want to invest in a different Analogue product to see what the company products are like while you wait for the 3D console, then the Analogue Pocket is back in stock in both black and white.
Additionally, the company also explained that PocketOS v2.5 and DuoOS v1.5 firmware updates have been released. While this isn’t relevant to our story today, we like companies that stay up-to-date with their firmware. This is a low bar but one we take seriously.

Concerns Around the Analogue 3D’s Release
We’re glad the company has reconfirmed the Analogue 3D release window, but the lack of an explanation has put fans on edge. While some have backtracked on their decision to cancel their pre-orders, others remain uncertain whether Analogue will be able to meet the new deadline.
There’s also the matter of performance. With the 4K N64 console alternative from Analogue sounds like a good deal, we still haven’t seen any evidence of how it will perform and what quality upgrades we’ll see from the original console. This makes it hard for some users to trust the brand’s promises.
Will this mean that the Analogue 3D will see a drop in orders with many cancelling their orders? It is unlikely as the large majority of its target audience is willing to wait till the company perfects the console before its release. We’re also optimistic about the 3D’s performance and are looking forward to it as much as we are to the Switch 2 or the Xbox handheld console.
An Analogue 3D Alternative to Consider
If you’re tired of waiting for the Analogue, you can technically still buy the N64 console from resellers, some of whom can provide them in mint condition. Unfortunately, their quality cannot be guaranteed and you’ll have to take a risk on its functioning—that is, if you find one at an affordable price.
You can also consider putting your money into another brand’s promise of a redesigned N64 console if you have the patience to play the waiting game all over again. ModRetro, a brand that released the pixel-accurate Game Boy cartridge-compatible Chromatic last year, has now thrown its hat into the race.
“This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back.
You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.”@modretro pic.twitter.com/fktoC96HvB

We know even less about the ModRetro N64 console and whether it’s a real product or only a suggestion for what it might start to work on next. ModRetro founder Palmer Luckey posted a tweet that alluded to an “M64” console along with an oddly placed red pill-blue pill quote. When a user replied that they had just ordered the Analogue 3D, Luckey replied that it’s “Never too late to change your mind!” Evidently, even before its release, there’s an Analogue 3D alternative for you to consider saving up for.

The Analogue 3D’s compatibility with every N64 game ever released is what keeps us coming back to it.
Rounding Up How We Feel About the Analogue 3D Delay
We were hoping Analogue would surprise us by announcing that the console would be shipped in the upcoming weeks, but we’re also willing to wait for the 3D release window in July 2025, as long as we get a finished product on launch.
There’s a ton of reasons to criticise @analogue they have questionable marketing, awful communication, extortionate postage options etc. However bringing a product to market is very challenging so a delay on the Analogue 3D is way down the list of things to be mad at them about,

Many have questioned why anyone would invest in the 3D when they can just play modern games instead or subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online membership to access some of these older titles. They make a good point, but there’s just something magical about these old-fashioned consoles and their cartridge slots. We also want to support the preservation of older technology since newer technology is no longer built as sturdily or with as much care as it used to be.
Analogue’s promise of the 3D being compatible with every single Nintendo 64 game is inspiring and something we intend to support, especially when it comes with 4K quality visuals. Even with the Analogue 3D delayed to later in 2025, we’re excited about what it has to offer.
