Mac Week of Announcements – What to Anticipate?
Apple was rumored to reveal M4-powered iMacs, 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, and an upgraded Mac Mini by early 2025. With the week of the announcement, we can expect that Apple will reveal the MacBooks way before anticipated. Apple has a lot in the box to reveal as they will also reveal the software updates for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The new software update will introduce the Apple Intelligence features to its users for the first time.
Last week, Apple launched the iPad Mini 7 via an unexpected press release and there are rumors that MacBooks will also be released online with a press release. Apple is expected to launch new MacBooks on October 30, because the company will conduct a “hands-on experience” event on the same day.
What’s New in M4 chips?
Apple has launched the iPad Pro with an M4 chip making it the only device with the upgraded chipset. When we compare the M3 chip in the base MacBook Pro and MacBook Air to the M4 in the iPad Pro, both the chips are built using advanced 3nm technology. Yet they differ a bit in their core setups and memory speed.
The MP3 chip has 8 cores while the M4 chip can have 10 or more cores. Additionally, the M4 chip consists of 6 efficient cores, compared to the 4 in the M3 chip. M4 chips also have better graphics performance with 8 GPU cores making them better for designing and animation. On top of that, the M4 provides 20% faster memory bandwidth, making it a better choice.
Users of the M3 MacBook have noted that the device runs hotter than previous models, likely due to the higher power consumption of the M3 chips. We’ll have to wait and see if Apple can address such issues, especially since the M4 chips will also demand significant power for better performance.
