Best Foldable Phones in 2025—Flexibility Is in This Year

Foldable phones are just bendy smartphones that don’t serve any specific purpose other than providing a wider screen when needed. Despite that, they make using a smartphone feel so much cooler, not to mention the extended screen real estate that makes streaming shows and playing games more enjoyable. These multi-purpose gadgets are harder to manufacture compared to regular smartphones, which is why they tend to be more expensive and more fragile than those we’ve gotten used to using.

Still, if you’re interested in buying a folding phone to see what all the hype is about, then we’ve invested some time in formulating our foldable phone rankings to give you the best foldable phones of 2025.

Best Foldable Phone Overall—Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

In our opinion, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is the best foldable phone in 2025 so far. You cannot go wrong with a Samsung foldable phone, even if you invest in the older models, but there’s just something about the Galaxy Z Fold 6 that puts it at the top of its siblings. The device operates smoothly, looks great, and has a comfortably sized display that gives you the experience of using a wider tablet screen without having to invest in one.

The device is compatible with an S Pen if that’s something you want to use it for and its external display is just as efficient if you find yourself primarily using the outer screen. The battery life is decent for most users, lasting a full 11 hours, and the cameras—while they’re not the best Samsung has to offer—are just as efficient. Yes, the device is on the pricier side, but for a good-quality foldable, it’s what you can expect to pay these days.

The OnePlus Open is a top contender for the foldable phone, with the best multitasking capabilities and its Open Canvas feature, but we thought it would be more fitting to create a separate category for those looking for a foldable phone with a good battery. OnePlus’ entry into the foldable segment has been a huge success and its long-lasting battery and fast-charging capabilities particularly stand out. The device has a stunning display, is lightweight in comparison to competitors, and is perfectly sized for its user.

Its 67W fast charging capabilities are extremely useful in a pinch and its camera system is perfectly efficient for the average user. We’re excited to see what’s in store for us with the OnePlus Open 2, but until then, the original device is a perfectly sound investment as one of the best foldable phones in 2025.

Best Foldable Phone Camera for 2025—Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold

If you’re investing in a foldable smartphone and are ready to go all out in terms of budget, Google’s recently launched Pixel 9 Pro Fold is one of the top foldable phones you can invest in. The device’s latest chipset is extremely efficient at managing the device’s processing needs and the 16GM RAM helps it perform to its full capacity. The camera setup is extremely reliable for a fold phone, and the AI-assisted image editing provides some great resources as well.

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is also expected to be among the first devices to get the full advantages of the upgrade to Android 16, and there should be some performance changes and camera updates there as well that will prove to be extremely useful. In most of our foldable phone comparisons, Google’s offering comes out on top.

The performance is not nearly enough to justify the high price point for most users, but it is still our recommendation for the best foldable phone camera out there right now.

Best Budget Foldable Phone—Nubia Flip 5G

Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1
OS: Android 13
Screen: 6.9 inches, OLED display, 1188 x 2790 pixels resolution

Battery: 4310 mAh
RAM: 6GB RAM, 8GB RAM, 12GB RAM

Camera: 50 MP wide-angle lens, 2 MP; 16 MP selfie camera

Flip phones are a more fun version of the book-type fold phone category, and while they aren’t the most convenient to use, there’s something delightfully enjoyable about flicking them open to take a call. If you just want to experience the world of flip phones and are okay to do so without all of the bells and whistles of a “high-end” gadget, the Nubia Flip 5G is one of the best budget foldable phones to invest in for 2025.

Flip phone cover screens aren’t designed to be as fully functional as those on a folding phone, so you’ll have to get used to the small circular window on the Nubia Flip 5G, but after the initial learning period, you’ll find it to be an extremely useful space for information at a glance.

External Display: 4 inches, LTPO AMOLED, 1272 x 1080 pixels
Battery: 4000 mAh
RAM: 12GB RAM
Storage: 256GB
Camera: 50 MP wide-angle lens, 50 MP telephoto lens; 32 MP selfie lens

The Motorola Razr Plus (2024) is an easy winner when it comes to the category of the best flip phone in 2025. There is so much to love about the device, right from its stylish appearance to its efficient camera system. The smartphone folds down to be extremely compact and easy to carry around, but even when folded, it has one of the best cover screens you can find in a flip phone. Its capabilities far exceed the Samsung Flip screen and it is also extremely customizable.

Motorola has made a big splash with its top foldable phone offerings, and with time, the allure of the Motorola Razr Plus (2024) has become more and more apparent. The limited software support period does hold it back, but if you’re looking for the best budget-friendly fold device on the market that is also efficient, this is the right one to invest in.

Most Premium Foldable Phone in 2025—Huawei Mate XT

Any foldable smartphone list would be incomplete without the Huawei Mate XT. The device is unfortunately restricted in the U.S. so it’s near impossible to get your hands on it without turning to scalpers. Still, it must be acknowledged that the Huawei Mate XT tri-fold phone is the biggest, most premium foldable phone on the market right now. The device retails for 19,999 yuan, which converts to approximately $2,800 USD.

The luxurious design and unique form factor is something that Samsung may duplicate in Q3 2025, but for now, the Huawei Mate XT comes on top of the foldable phone ranking quite easily.

All said and done, these are our picks for the best foldable phone in 2025. There should be multiple new releases in the foldable smartphone category later this year, so we’ll make an updated list in case some of them prove to be better than the ones we have already crowned on this list. Stay tuned to see whether our top foldable phones change in 2025.
