The Assassin’s Creed movie did little for the game and Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is a nightmare we’d rather forget but the Fallout game player base has risen dramatically since the release of the TV series inspired by it. The Fallout drama series was just released a few weeks ago on Prime Video on April 10, 2024, and its 8.6 IMDb rating does not begin to cover the impact the show has had so far. Fallout 76, released back in 2018, saw the player count rise to one million players in a single day. The combined Fallout game player statistics went all the way up to five million. Bethesda must be punching the air right now, cheering at their success without even having to release a new game to bring players back home to their in-game wastelands.

Fallout Games Player Base Rises To Five Million Across All Games
In a tweet on April 24, Bethesda announced the news, stating that the Fallout games player base for Fallout 76 had risen to over one million in a single day. Across all the games combined, over five million players had chosen to come online. According to Steam numbers, Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas were the two titles with the most players actively joining the game. These numbers would not have been surprising in the games’ heyday but considering how old these titles are, it is surprising, to say the least.

Fallout: New Vegas was first released in 2010 and it is commonly regarded as one of the best titles of the series. The game was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 but unfortunately, the PlayStation 5 cannot run the game natively, forcing fans to play online. This has resulted in players being forced to wait in queues for their turn, often crashing out even before they get in. It doesn’t seem like Sony has any plans for a PlayStation 5 port for the game anytime soon, but fans can only stay hopeful. If the company wants to capitalize on the Fallout game’s player base, then now is definitely the right time to do it.
Similar to the popularity of Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4 has also been seeing big numbers, becoming the best-selling game in Europe this week according to Gamesindustry.biz. The game saw a 7500 percent boost and the fact that there’s an update coming to the game helps move the business forward too. The Fallout 4 new-gen will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox series consoles on April 25. With resolution and FPS increases, stability improvements, and a variety of bug fixes lined up for the game according to GamingBible, any issues with playability will be resolved soon enough. A Steam Deck verification is on the cards and the game will also be available on the Epic Game store for those who prefer to make their purchases there.
Do the Impressive Fallout Games Player Statistics Mean We’re Getting Fallout 5?
It’s okay to dream about a future where you get everything you want because sometimes reality leaves no room for it. Despite the renewed popularity of Fallout 76 and the rise in the overall Fallout games’ player count, there is no sign that Bethesda will speed up its release of the new Fallout game. We may see more fixes and updates come to the existing title, but the company is currently preoccupied with the Elder Scrolls realm. If you want more of the dreary lands of Fallout, you’ll probably have to rewatch the new show or wait for season 2 since the TV series received the green light for another season.
If the saga of Lucy and Maximus is not enough to keep you entertained, then perhaps you should consider joining the one million people playing Fallout 76 right now. Meanwhile, we hope that other TV show adaptations that are inspired by the success we’ve seen, work hard to come up with some original but inspired content.
Personally, we found the adaptation of The Last of Us and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners to be some of the best examples of how to make a truly remarkable video game adaptation for TV, but considering the popularity Fallout has seen, maybe there’s something worthwhile to explore here as well. Hopefully, they won’t waste all this potential the way The Witcher did in the end.
