Samsung has been allowing a slow stream of updates on its next “AI phone” but the S24 Ultra leaks have unleashed an outflow of rumors that confirm just how much the new device is counting on AI to enhance the device’s functionality. The Galaxy S24 Ultra release date has been rumored for mid-January 2024, and as we move closer to an actual launch, we’ve had multiple leaks to keep us expectantly looking forward to the release. An S24 Ultra leak in November by X/Twitter user DavidMa05368498 gave us our first apparent glimpse at the device and the flat screen was a major update, suggesting Samsung had given up on the curved screen that users have had a love-hate relationship for years now. Including colors and design, here’s everything we know so far.

S24 Ultra Leak—Three S24 Phones With S23 Storage
The Galaxy S24 Ultra launch is likely just a few weeks away and the latest of the S24 Ultra leaks revolve around the storage and color options that the new devices might be adopting. A large part of the conversation around the upcoming series is the conversion around storage. Sources suggest that the base S24 model will have 8GB RAM and 128 GB storage, which is not any better than the S23, and there should be another version with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The lack of a 12GB RAM model will be disappointing for many.
The Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra should have 12GB RAM and 256/512GB storage options and the Ultra will have an additional 1TB upgrade. The 8GB RAM in the base model has left many wondering if it will be capable of actually utilizing the AI potential that Samsung is promising but it has been suggested that the base model might still have the Exynos 2400 SoC chip instead of the new Snapdragon processor. So, in reality, the model might not see the AI perks at all. It was indicated that the S24 Ultra and S24+ would see the Snapdragon8 Gen3 chip globally instead of being released only in China and America, which is where the on-device AI support will originate from.
Galaxy S24 Ultra Launch with Improved Camera Processing
Rumors from trusted sources, such as from X/Twitter user Sondesix, indicate that the camera will support a more realistic photography experience as opposed to the oversaturated images that sometimes limit the S23. The S24 Ultra leak suggests that the changes will be more a result of the software upgrade rather than any additional changes to the camera hardware itself, with Samsung exerting greater control over the sharpening and saturation to improve the photo quality.
Several statements from a source about the Galaxy S24 Ultra. 👇
✅️ The camera processing is more realistic than the S23 Ultra (although this might change in the final software), and Samsung controls the sharpening & saturation more properly.
✅️ It’s basically all about AI as… https://t.co/m97quhjiP9— Alvin (@sondesix) December 17, 2023
UniverseIce, another reliable X/Twitter account that brings us updates on the S24 Ultra leak, suggests that the night mode will also be improved as a result of its AI optimization. The 200MP sensor in the device should see AI support that will help the camera identify 12 kinds of objects and optimize what is being shot, resulting in better image quality.
Introducing ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace, for the Galaxy S24 Ultra!
The Galaxy S24 series is going to be getting many new features and this will be one of many, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen3, new AI features with One UI 6.1, and the refined 200 MP camera coming with the Galaxy S24… pic.twitter.com/mr7l875a5d

Earlier in October, Samsung had provided its users with a glimpse of the ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace technology that was likely to arrive on devices with upcoming releases. The 200M sensors were designed to capture a large area with a zoomed-in view in any direction, automatically tracking a moving object as well. The improved zoom technology could be a nice addition to a phone already renowned for its photography capabilities, and considering the S24 Ultra leak that suggests the device will come with the necessary 200-megapixel sensor, we could be seeing this feature soon. In the end, while the cameras should definitely see an improvement with these details built-in, it appears that Samsung is going to rely on AI contributions to really sell this phone.
S24 Ultra Design Leaks
According to GSMArena, all three Galaxy S24 phones will be available in Black, Grey, Violet, and Yellow. The colors are interesting, and the yellow is especially unusual. The names for these colors will be more attractive though, with the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ receiving an Onyx Black, Marble Grey, Cobalt Violet, and Amber Yellow and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra getting the Titanium Black, Titanium Gray, Titanium Violet, and Titanium Yellow. It is also likely that some color options might be reserved for exclusive purchase from the Samsung website as opposed to being available anywhere else on the market.
The names are a pretty good indicator that, like the iPhone 15 Pro, the Samsung S24 Ultra might be getting a titanium frame while the rest of the line settles for an aluminum structure. It is impossible for Samsung to have been unaware of the comparisons that users are now set to draw between the two phones, but if it performs better than the iPhones have, it could be a sale booster as well. Sources comparing the colors of the two phones so far have stated that the Titanium Grey Galaxy S24 Ultra looks much better than the 2023 Natural Titanium release of the iPhone 15 Pro but that could come down to entirely subjective taste.
Display Details of the Galaxy S24
It is all but confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S24 series will feature a flat screen instead of a display with curved edges. Most rumors and renders have confirmed this and the reaction of the public does seem to support this change considering the inconvenience of using a screen protector that the previous models had brought on. According to the S24 Ultra leaks, the new device will feature an upgraded Gorilla Glass Armor, a possible upgrade from the Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which is said to be the current strongest display screen offering on the market.
Reports from sources like user AhmedQwaider888 suggest that the brightness levels will be capped at 2600 nits, and while that isn’t the top capability we’ve seen on the market recently, it is better than many of Samsung’s competitors that offer 2000 nits as max brightness.
With the rumored 17 January Galaxy S24 Ultra release date fast approaching, we might see a few more S24 Ultra leaks before the year ends but their veracity will only be seen after launch. The S24 Ultra price predictions estimate that the phone will be approximately the same as the Galaxy S23 series, according to TechRadar. In that case, the S24 Ultra price could likely be set at $1199 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model, and then rise for the 12GB RAM models, to $1379 and $1619, for 512BG and 1TB storage respectively. The AI capabilities and its support for the camera will be the top features of the phone as the device seems otherwise largely unchanged from the S23 so far.
I will definitely pass on the S24 series but I’m also definitely looking forward to seeing what they release in January, what upgrades Samsung bring etc.

Many users appear to be dismissing the upcoming launch due to the lack of any major hardware upgrades so we shall have to see if the Samsung Gauss AI is enough to sway the masses.
