Just when consumers thought they were set to receive Samsung’s Android 15 update, a new challenge has presented itself. Has the One UI 7 rollout been halted? To put it simply, yes, it has. The One UI 7 update had previously resumed release on April 7, first coming to specific Galaxy devices in Korea. It was then expected to arrive on the same specific Galaxy phones in regions like the US, Europe, and India, however, Samsung abruptly halted its release.
The company issued a vague statement about the pause with the promise of a revised schedule, however, it offered no specific reasons for the decision. The lack of clarity and the considerable confusion around the One UI 7 release delay has frustrated fans to no end. Samsung tried to distract fans from the One UI delay by releasing an announcement for the Good Lock feature, but this has hardly been enough to make a difference to fans.

Has the One UI 7 Rollout been Halted?
Yes, the One UI 7 rollout has been halted for Galaxy S24 series devices, which means that no other Samsung devices are going to receive the update anytime soon either. After initially releasing the One UI 7 update for Galaxy S25 series devices directly on launch in January, Samsung remained unclear about when other devices could expect the release.
After months of building up to it, Samsung finally released the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series as well as the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 last week, first in Korea, followed by a more global rollout. Unfortunately, the company immediately pulled the One UI 7 update from its servers worldwide.
The One UI 7 rollout schedule is being updated to ensure the best possible experience. The new timing and availability will be shared shortly.
The news of the pause didn’t come from Samsung itself; tipster Ice Universe was the first to bring it up, explaining that a “serious bug” had been found in the update. The Android 15 update on which One UI has been built was released last year on July 18, 2024, and Samsung has fallen extremely behind on its successive releases. Samsung One UI’s 7-month delay and the latest update issue don’t reflect well on the company.
One UI 7 Delay Explanation—Why Did Samsung Halt the Release?
Samsung has not revealed its reasons for the halt, but Ice Universe explained that some users who had received the One UI7 update on the Korean S24 series were struggling to unlock their phones normally every once in a while. This issue was urgent enough that Samsung had to pull back the One UI 7 update and assess it for any bugs and issues that could be causing the problem at hand.
The problem wasn’t witnessed by all users, many of whom managed to enjoy the update; however, such glitches are not welcome, particularly after such a delayed release. Netizens have hypothesized that there was a problem with the Exynos chip which caused an issue, but this remains unconfirmed.
The reason for the delay in the Galaxy S24 push is that users of the official version of One UI7 of the Korean S24 series found that “they could not be unlocked normally in some cases.”
Samsung urgently reviewed the firmware withdrawal in other countries.

Ars Technica also reported that some users were seeing photos from their private Secure Folder outside of it, in the auto-generated stories, which made the Secure Folder an entirely redundant feature.
When Will the One UI 7 Release Be Resumed?
Samsung has been quiet on the updates, and explanations on the issue have been slow to come. As a result, there are no confirmed details on when One UI 7 updates will be resumed. Our reliable tipster Ice Universe dropped in on Twitter/X to confirm that the One UI 7 release will be resumed today on April 15, 2025. As per the previous schedule before the One UI 7 rollout was halted, Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6 users should be the first to see the update arrive on the smartphone.
Samsung may provide an update timeline for the release if their statement is to be trusted, so if you are the user of an older Samsung smartphone and are wondering about the UI availability, keep your eyes on the company’s official pages. We hope there will be no more bugs and delays once the One UI 7 release is resumed.
One UI 7 Frustrations Among Users Climb Higher
Samsung users have taken to Twitter/X to release their frustrations around the One UI 7 release in meme format, which is arguably the best way to get it out of your system. The Samsung One UI delay is one part of the problem, keeping users from experiencing the features and tools promised to them. More importantly, however, the company’s lack of transparency has served as the last straw for many faithful fans.

Sincerely if Samsung does not resume the rollout of one ui 7 tomorrow, or the bare minimum gives us concrete information, I think I will go back to Apple (IOS), This lack of communication will collapse this company one day.#samsung #oneui #oneui7 pic.twitter.com/hCdqVFc4bx

It’s really funny seeing Samsung fans defending that company for delaying the One UI 7 update rollout over and over again.
It’s even funnier seeing how Samsung is struggling with the update, lol.
What’s even funnier is that those Chinese phone brands they’ve always mocked… pic.twitter.com/y7mHSWCkSK

Apple has been dealing with its own series of delays with promised features, so the issue of holdups is not unfamiliar, however, companies are more scared than ever to hurt their profit margins, and this results in their silence on key issues. From Analogues’ silence on their 4K Nintendo 64 release to the current lack of clarity on whether the One UI 7 rollout was halted at all, we’re in an era where communication is easier than ever, but companies still prefer to hold out on their customers.
The least Samsung could do to start improving its image is rollout the One UI 7 update to ALL COUNTRIES today.
This has been a mess and with no direct communication from Samsung. pic.twitter.com/WO6rHT94cT

The One UI 7 update issues aren’t preventing users from using their devices or affecting functionality, so it should be okay to bring out the software update a little late. However, tech companies have no one but themselves to blame for setting up the precedent for highly anticipated yearly releases with minimal changes that will disappoint fans in the end, one way or another.
One UI 8 Leaks Spice Up the Narrative
While fans are stewing over the One UI 7 rollout being halted, there are reports of a leak that revealed the Alpha testing build for Samsung’s One UI 8, powered by Android 16. The UI was seen on a Galaxy Z Fold 6, and it showcased some layout changes and Android 16 Beta 3 easter eggs to prove its authenticity.
Users online are accusing Samsung of leaking the UI 8 update themselves to distract from the mess of the One UI 7 rollout interruption, but take those accusations lightly.
For now, the One UI 7 rollout has been halted, but we’ll be back with an update once things start moving forward again. Keep your eyes on this space to learn more about Samsung’s plans.
