The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is finally here and we all know what that means—it’s time for a comparison of the Samsung Galaxy S25 vs S24 to get a sense of what has changed. With every new iteration of a smartphone, the makers attempt to give users enough of a reason to upgrade from the predecessor to the latest version of the device. In most cases, there is little reason to upgrade between successive generations, but if you have a much older model of the smartphone, the release of a new device makes an upgrade all the more appealing.
Reviewing the Samsung S24 and S25’s official specs, we’ve found little reason to upgrade from one to the other, however, if you’re in the market for a new smartphone, it might be difficult to decide which one to pick up. That’s why we’re here to help you decide. Between the S25 vs S24, which is better?

Samsung Galaxy S25 vs S24 Comparison—Which One Are You Considering for Your Next Purchase?
Samsung launched its new Galaxy S25 series of smartphones on January 22, 2025, and for the most part, customers have been excited to see the latest models make their debut. The series consists of three new smartphones, namely the Samsung Galaxy S25, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus, and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Ultra version is the obvious attention grabber with its larger form factor, superior camera setup, and S Pen integration, however, for many consumers, the device might be overkill.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 is the smallest and most inconspicuous of the lot, but it is also most likely to fit within a regular user’s budget and needs. This is why understanding the differences between the Galaxy S25 and the S24 might be just what you need to make the decision on what device to invest in next.
Kicking Things off with the Samsung S24 and S25’s Official Specs
In terms of the processor, the S25 has a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset specifically for Samsung Galaxy phones, while the S24 features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor or the Exynos 2400 depending on the region. According to Samsung, the chipset in the S25 boasts a 40% boost in NPU, 37% in CPU, and 30% in GPU performance. Geekbench 6 scores also show better performance, and as a result, the S25 can support a better experience for a user.
For now, the S25 runs on One UI 7 based on Android 15, while the S24 runs on One UI 6 based on Android 14, but this won’t be true for long. One UI 7 is expected to debut on the S24 series soon so both devices will showcase the same UI features. The difference is that the S25 will be more capable of handling all the AI-specific demands that come with the upgrade.
There could also be some AI features exclusively limited to the S25, but we’re unsure what those will be, if any.
In terms of Battery and RAM, The Samsung Galaxy S25 Upgrades are Not Substantial
Both devices feature a 4,000mAh battery, which is a disappointing detail for many users hoping to get more out of their smartphones. The upgraded processor on the S25 should help with better power regulation which will in turn drain the battery at a slower rate. The S25 doesn’t directly support Qi2 charging, however, with a compatible case, the capability is still there, which is good to see.
In terms of RAM, the S24 only has 8GB RAM so the 12GB RAM on the S25 is an obvious improvement. This detail will also be very helpful in leaving room for all the processing pressure on the hardware.
Design Details Comparisons of the Samsung Galaxy S25 vs the S24
In terms of the display, both the S24 and S25 have a 6.2-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The bezels on the S25 are thinner, but in terms of size and appearance, the two are quite similar in terms of camera setup and rounded corners. The S25 is slightly thinner and smaller than the S24, but the difference is hardly noticeable.
The color options available for both phones are not dramatically different either. The Samsung S25 is available in Icy blue, Navy, Mint, and Silver shadow and the Samsung special colors include Blue black, Coral red, and Pink gold. The Samsung S24 has similar shade options and is available in Cobalt blue, Onyx black, Marble grey, and Amber yellow, with Samsung-exclusive color options of Sapphire blue, Jade green, and Sandstone orange.
Both series have a mix of pale light colors, muted dark shades, and a standout reddish color if you want to try something different.

Are There Any Camera Differences to Consider Between the Samsung Galaxy S25 vs S24?
If you were hoping for improved camera hardware on the S25, you may have set yourself up for disappointment. Both devices feature a 50 MP main lens, a 12 MP ultrawide lens, and a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom support. Just like the rest of the S25 series, the base model also has a 12 MP selfie camera that is the same as the S24.
Many of the camera features and tools that are being discussed on the S25, such as the mention of a next-gen AI-powered tool named the ProVisual Engine, were seen during the launch of the S24 as well. The Nightography capabilities touted with the launch of the S25 are present on the S24.
The Log video support on the S25 series is one notable feature, making it easier for videographers to catch raw footage that is easier to edit later. With the S25, you should have more control over your images and see some boosts in quality from the AI support, but for the most part, both devices are evenly matched.
Pricing of the Samsung Galaxy S24 and the S25
Both devices launched at a price of $799 for the base storage integration. For the Samsung Galaxy S24, this means you get 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, while with the Samsung Galaxy S25, you can expect 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. While the price of the S24 can be expected to fall in the coming months, as of right now, the S25 is a better investment solely for the difference in memory and storage.
Samsung Galaxy S25 vs S24, Which Is Better?
If you already have a Samsung Galaxy S24, there is no reason to consider an upgrade to the S25. From the Samsung Galaxy S25 vs S24 comparisons we’ve made, it is evident that the differences are minimal and won’t be worth the effort of transferring data from one phone to the other.
If you have an older Samsung model and want to join the AI bandwagon, then you may as well spend your money on the Samsung Galaxy S25 just to take advantage of the newer chipset and improved storage offered by the device. The S25 is better than the S24 in terms of processing power and immediate AI capabilities, but in all other aspects, the differences between the devices are insignificant.
