Expensive flagship phones are nice to look at and read about, but it’s the mid-ranged marvels that truly keep the smartphone market afloat. That’s our segway into a Motorola Moto G 2025 Stylus review, because the brand knows exactly what to offer in the budget market every year. After the undeniable success of the Motorola Razr+ and its performance in the flip phone category, the Moto G Stylus 2025 launch is the company’s next step in bringing a stylus-equipped smartphone to the standard smartphone category.

Motorola’s new Moto G Stylus features many interesting components, from advanced charging capabilities to an IP68 rating. It won’t outperform a Samsung Galaxy S25 or the iPhone 16E from earlier this year, but it does make an attempt at innovating hardware in a way that’s actually useful to consumers.

Moto G Stylus features

The new 2025 Moto G Stylus has specs and features to rival the majority of the budget smartphone offerings this year.

Motorola Moto G Stylus 2025 Review: Yes, It Comes With an Actual Stylus

Motorola has been quite open about its plans to conquer the smartphone market over the next five years, however, it still hasn’t fully regained the popularity it once enjoyed. The brand has been working on innovation in niche areas, taking some of the features reserved for premium smartphones and bringing them to the budget smartphone market. To do this, it still has to stick to budget specs that don’t necessarily present you with an overpowered monster phone, but for its target customer base, this tends to be alright.

Last year’s version of the Moto G Stylus didn’t necessarily succeed in taking over the budget phone category as many other brands were able to offer more desirable alternatives; however, in 2025, Motorola is giving it another shot. Let’s first review the Moto G Stylus 2025 specs and then narrow in on our favorite features of the new smartphone.

Moto G Stylus 2025 Specs: What Processor Does the New Motorola Phone Use?

The Moto G Stylus 2025 specs are built around a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, which isn’t the worst alternative, but it doesn’t necessarily leave us awed either. The chip is an improvement over last year’s smartphone, but many would have preferred an upgrade to the Gen 4 version, at the least to keep the smartphone relevant for a couple of additional years.

Still, the Moto G Stylus 2025 specs have managed to impress fans by offering features like the stylus, IP68 rating, stereo speakers, wireless charging, microSD expansion, and the much-loved headphone jack that modern smartphone makers have begun ostracizing. Most Moto G Stylus 2025 reviews are in favor of Motorola’s new phone.

2025 Moto G Stylus stylus specs

The 2025 Moto G Stylus does not complicated matters—it has straightforward hardware that will work for most users.

Motorola Moto G Stylus Stylus Features: What Do We Like About It?

The budget-friendly Moto G Stylus 2025 is easy to review because there are a lot of different points that appeal to different audiences.

Putting the Style in Moto G Stylus 2025

The two blue colorways are amusing to see. Motorola describes the Gibraltar sea color as adding “depth and sophistication to any look,” which is a bit much, but we won’t deny that the faux-leather appearance does add some style to the mix.

It’s also interesting how Motorola chose to give the smartphone the appearance of a triple camera setup while there are only two lenses in the camera setup, but we can’t fault them for trying to sell the premium appeal.

That aside, the Moto G Stylus 2025 specs and features have other details you might be interested in as well.

The Stylus is 6.4 Times More Responsive Than Its Predecessor

The stylus is obviously the highlight of the $400 phone. From note takers to procrastinating scribblers, the integration opens up new doors for many who might have lusted after the Galaxy S25 Ultra without the budget for it. The stylus is admittedly inferior to the active one we see on premium phones, but it’ll get the job done. A Moto G Stylus 2025 would be incomplete without addressing it first.

Motorola claims the new smartphone and stylus are 6.4 times more responsive, but it’s unclear how this was achieved. The upgraded display and new Snapdragon chipset could have something to do with it, but we remain in the dark about the exact details.

The smartphone has AI tools that bring Sketch to Image and Google’s Circle to Search capabilities to the device, which will be easier to use with the stylus.

Moto G Stylus 2025 Brings Fast Charging and Wireless Capabilities

The 2025 Moto G Stylus’ 5,000 mAh battery is pretty decent for a smartphone, but we need to talk about the fast-charging feature. Using Motorola’s 68W TurboPower system, the phone can be fully charged in 15 minutes.

Of course, you do have to purchase the TurboPower charger separately, but if you are someone who needs to be on the go for long hours, the promise of a 40-hour battery life and fast charging may be appealing enough to convince you to invest a little extra in the charger.

The 15W wireless charging is also delightful to see on a more budget-friendly phone.

The New Motorola Phone for 2025 Finally Gets IP68 Resistance

The Moto G Stylus 2025 finally switched to an IP68 water and dust resistant rating after the IP52 rating of its predecessors. We wouldn’t recommend giving it a good soak, but it should be better prepared to handle exposure to freak water accidents this time around.

The US Department of Defense’s MIL-SPEC standards are also met by the Moto G Stylus, so it has been tested for improved durability that should help ensure a long life for the smartphone.

Listen to Music with the Dolby Atmos-Supported Stereo Speakers

Yes, apart from the brave inclusion of the headphone jack, the Moto G Stylus 2025 model also has a Dolby Atmos-supported stereo speaker to enhance the audio-listening experience. This comes with an unnecessary Dolby logo on the body of the phone that we could have done without, but it is a good feature all the same.

Whether enjoyed over headphones or the device’s speakers, Dolby Atmos provides an immersive sound experience that reveals greater depth, clarity, and details across users’ favorite entertainment.

Moto G Stylus review

Did Motorola do enough to attract customers with the Moto G Stylus 2025, or is it playing things too safe? That’s what we’d like to hear from consumers.

Motorola Moto G Stylus Release Date and Price

The Moto G Stylus 2025 has been priced at $400 for the 128GB version of the phone. For comparison, Google’s budget Pixel 9a costs $499, the same as the Samsung Galaxy A56. The newest and cheapest Apple phone, the iPhone 16e, starts at $599.

The Motorola Moto G Stylus release date has been set for April 17, so you’re only a week away from your next smartphone.

Is the 2025 Moto G Stylus Any Good?

The main question you might have at the end of the Moto G Stylus 2025 review is whether the smartphone is worth buying. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly phone that still has some personality, the 2025 Moto G Stylus is a great option for you. From its fast-charging capabilities to the decent camera setup, the device will be able to keep up with most of your demands quite easily.

You won’t be able to zoom in 100x at your next concert, and neither will you have the option of a 12GB RAM for your higher processing needs, but we think you’ll do just fine without these capabilities. The Moto G Stylus 2025 specs are designed to cater to the needs of an average consumer, and it does the job stunningly well.

You will have to be mentally prepared for the bloatware that often populates these budget phones, but that aside, you should be able to enjoy a smooth smartphone experience with just the right dose of AI sprinkled over the top. We still haven’t heard any updates on the the rumored Motorola ban in the US, but things look clear for the new smartphone’s release for now.
