It’s over two years now that Nvidia introduced its current generation of GeForce gaming GPUs. That has kept everyone waiting for what’s next for Nvidia. Rumors and many indications suggest we would not wait more than a month to get our wish – Nvidia’s next-generation GeForce GPUs allegedly named the GeForce GTX 11 series would be launched in August, according to The Verge.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had recently [on June 5] announced that the next GeForce GPUs would not be released any time soon. That may be a strategy to cool off much anticipation by fans. With the latest rumors, all signs are pointing towards next month as when we would be seeing the GeForce GTX 1180. Though Nvidia will be presenting at the annual Hot Chips conference taking place in August, there’s no clear indication that the company would launch the series at the event where it’s going to talk on the topic: “NVIDIA’s Next Generation Mainstream GPU.”

The GeForce GTX 11 Series would be launched during video games trade fair Gamescom Exhibition starting on Tuesday 21, August, just immediately after Hot Chip ends. Nvidia is reportedly sending invites for the mysterious PC-related event and the invites have an E3 video featuring a free talking about Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 11 Series by Lenovo product manager.  The Lenovo representative acknowledged that Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1180 is down the road while referring to Lenovo gaming PC. With the information that Nvidia’s next-generation GPUs is based on Turing platform, fans concluded that Nvidia was teasing the release of its GPUs next generation when it celebrated Alan Turing’s birthday on Twitter.

GeForce GTX 1180 features

Last week, alleged samples for the GeForce GTX 1180 engineering images were leaked. The graphics card seen was installed with a dozen GDDR6 memory modules produced by Micron, and no GPUs at the moment support GDDR6 memory yet. Micron recently started the commercial production of this memory which will be replacing the existing GDDR5 memory, first introduced about a decade ago. The bandwidth capacities of next-generation GPUs for consoles and computers are expected to be improved by GDDR6 memory. The leaked image also depicted a graphics card with three power connectors, which indicates additional energy use compared to the model in use.

The GDDR6 memory modules which deliver a transfer rate of up to 6 Gbit/s per pin will enable Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1180 to play games at 4K resolution at a 144Hz refresh rate. It will also offer improved rendering, crypto-mining, and AR/VR applications.

Experts are saying that Crypto miners may likely affect the price of Nvidia’s upcoming GPUs just as demand for the old model from some of them pushed up its price earlier this year. However, the recent slump in cryptocurrency demand would likely play a part in keeping the demand stable. Another point that would control the demand would be the graphics card’s performance compared to the older version.Rumors and many indications suggest we would not wait more than a month to get our wish – Nvidia’s next-generation GeForce GPUs allegedly named the GeForce GTX 11 series would be launched in August, according to The Verge.
