After teasers and gleeful suggestions that Oppo was working on something new, we now have the Oppo Find N5 review-ready. We love the foldable phone market more than the average user and have spent time breaking down our picks for the best foldable phones on the market this year. Now, Oppo has arrived on the scene with a reason to make us update our list.

Before we get to the Oppo Find N5 camera, battery life, or the other specs, the one standout feature that is obvious at first glance, is that the Find N5 is the thinnest foldable phone on the market right now. Even when closed into its book-type fold form, the Oppo Find N5 is so lightweight and easy on the hands that you’ll never have to think twice about putting it in a cover—and it will need a cover, because we’re a little worried about its fragility, more so than the average foldable.

Let’s dive a little deeper into the Oppo Find N5 review to conceptualize what we love about the new smartphone.

Oppo Find N5 Review—Would You Care to Own the World’s Thinnest Fold Phone?

More than the Oppo Find N5’s specs, the main selling point of the new foldable is that it is the thinnest form factor that any company has managed to achieve in the foldable fold segment. Chinese brands have been pushing the envelope more than other smartphone makers to offer something new and unique about their gadgets with each release and say what you want about privacy concerns, we have to admire their drive to do something unique.

Much like the Huawei Mate XT’s tri-fold form, the Oppo Find N5 has attempted to do something different with its design. Thankfully, it isn’t the only reason Oppo has given to convince you to invest in the smartphone. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset paired with 16GB of RAM for support, there are a lot of reasons to buy the Oppo Find N5.

Oppo Find N5 Specs—Where Does It Fit All of Its Internal Architecture?

An Oppo Find N5 review has to begin with the internal workings of the device before we break down what it means for the device. The Oppo Find N5 specs begin from the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset (7-core version) powering many of the top smartphones right now.

The device has 16 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, which can of course be upgraded to 1TB. At launch the device offers Android 15 with ColorOS 15, so you aren’t going to be left behind when we get the Android 16 upgrade.

At a glance, it is easy to tell why the Oppo Find N5 has so many positive reviews. The smartphone ensures it stays competitive no matter what specification is important to you. Unfortunately, the price puts it out of reach for the everyday consumer, but that’s what we’ve come to expect from foldable phones barring a few.

Reviewing the Oppo Find N5 Display Quality and Build

The Find N5 display quality is no joke, with the large form factors and 120 Hz refresh rate that make it very responsive. The 6.62-inch cover screen and the 8.1-inch inner display are both extremely massive and provide for all your needs, whether you want to just keep using the phone folded up or opened for the larger screen. When folded, the screen still remains comfortably suited for single-handed use.

The high resolution on both screens guarantees an enjoyable viewing experience and they are perfectly suited for both indoor and outdoor use. If you need our Oppo Find N5 review to cover the screens’ operability, we can tell you that both offer stylus support and switch between the folded and unfolded modes seamlessly.

The ColorOS 15 based on Android 15 gives you a clean and clear interface to work with, even if you want to split the view and work on multiple apps at once. The display layout customizability is also a big win for Oppo’s new smartphone.

The Oppo Find N5’s Cameras Deserves a Mention as Well

The Oppo Find N5’s Hasselblad-branded camera setup includes a 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. These lenses provide bright and detailed photos to be sure, but they aren’t industry-defining by any means. You are also promised 4K 60fps videos, but that’s the best it can offer.

The folding form of the Oppo Find N5 provides some conveniences when it comes to taking selfies using the back cameras with the outer screen as a viewfinder, but such techniques are not exclusive to Oppo. It is fun to see them nonetheless. If you favor high-contrast, detailed images, the Oppo Find N5’s cameras may disappoint you, but if you like realistic, warm images, then it will have your back.

There are also two 8MP cameras, one on the cover screen and one on the internal screen. For having squeezed so much technology into that sleek form factor, Oppo has certainly managed to make an impressive phone, but its cameras may not be its best feature. As with most other Oppo Find N5 reviews, we also find the camera to be one of the device’s weaker features, even though they are far from disappointing.

Oppo Find N5 Battery Life Reviewed—It Definitely Packs a Punch

We’ve reviewed the Oppo Find N5’s specs, displays, and cameras, but we can’t forget about the impressive battery life. The Oppo Find N5 guarantees a good battery life with its impressive 5,600 mAh silicon-carbon battery, despite the limited space available within the sleek smartphone.

GSMArena found it had an Active Use Score of 13:16 hours while using the internal display, which is extremely impressive for a foldable phone. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 lasted 11:31 hours and the older Oppo Find N3 made it to 11:36 hours.

You can expect 80W SuperVOOC charging support with the Oppo Find N5, which can charge up to 100% in less than an hour. This is nothing compared to the Vivo X Fold 2’s 120W flash charge, but it is impressive and reliable. You also have Oppo’s AirVOOC standard 50W wireless charging to look forward to.

Oppo Find N5 features

Oppo Find N5 Features—What Else Can You Expect from the New Foldable?

If you’re worried about the Oppo Find N5 becoming outdated too soon, the device will receive five years of security updates. Now the question remains whether you’ll be able to ensure that the folding phone lasts as long. One of the highlights we’ve noticed in Oppo Find N5 reviews is the mention of an almost invisible display crease, which even the “top” smartphone makers have struggled with.

Additionally, Oppo doesn’t ignore the AI trend that has been convincing users to buy smartphones in recent months. There are some typical AI features you can make the most of, such as AI Search, AI Call Summary and transcription, live translations, AI assistant and writing support, AI eraser for photo editing, etc. In international markets, Google and Gemini support the AI capabilities.

The O+ Connect app for MAx allows users to transfer files from a Mac or even control it from a distance, which is another interesting tool that Oppo explores.

Oppo Find N5 Release Date—How Do You Get Your Hands on the Device?

The stylish Oppo Find N5 was unveiled on February 20, 2025, flaunting its tag of the “world’s thinnest book-style foldable when closed.” Any thinner, and phone makers will have to scrap the type-C port. Preorders are open and the smartphone will be available starting from February 28, 2025.

The device is priced at 2,499 Singapore dollars, which can be converted to €1,799, £1,499, or $1,870. Unfortunately for U.S. buyers, it does not appear that the device will be launched in the region, so you might have to wait for Samsung or another brand to duplicate this “thin-is-in” technology.

Finishing Up Our Oppo Find N5 Review

Samsung and Google may appear to dominate the fold phone space but do not underestimate the work that other brands are putting into their foldable gadget. OnePlus and Motorola have given us some of our favorite fold phones in the last year, and sub-brand Oppo appears on track to do the same.

The Oppo Find N5’s features are segment-redefining and go beyond being an aesthetic choice. The slim phone is great to look at and combines two of the key smartphone areas that Apple is rumored to be targeting—the iPhone 17 Air for a slim smartphone and the iPhone Flip for the foldable category. Killing two birds with one stone, the slim design makes it lightweight and easy to use, despite the multitude of screen components.

The Oppo Find N5 camera setup is not the greatest on the market but it is still good, and the device’s battery life puts it on top of its category of devices. If you see the Oppo Find N5 releasing near you, we’d recommend taking the plunge and seeing what the device can do for you.
