More games, more release dates, and a world of experiences for PS5 gamers to look forward to—that’s what the Sony PlayStation State of Play June event had to offer. Broadcast on June 4, 2025, at 2 PM PT, the event brought a few different highlights of varying relevance, even giving us our first glimpse at the 007 First Light game. The upcoming Marvel title also brought a spark of delight to comic fans after the disappointment that came with the cancellation of an upcoming Black Panther game, which was nice to see.
The PlayStation June event offered up a collection of different games in a variety of genres, from puzzle titles to horror ones, all of which have us rearing to get some alone time with our consoles. Let’s dive right into everything PlayStation announced this time.

PlayStation State of Play June 2025—What’s On Your Must-Play List?
The handheld console market is in complete disarray thanks to the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, Valve’s latest SteamOS update, and the possibility of handheld console releases from Xbox in the coming years. Despite all of this, PS5 has held its ground as a solid gaming platform, particularly with the constant flow of titles designed to be compatible with its capabilities. The recent glimpse into the development of Witcher 4 and the quality of visuals on the PS5 reassured fans that the console was not going to become outdated anytime soon.
Now we have the PlayStation State of Play June 4, 2025, event, which showed off a nice assortment of games fans could expect to see in the coming months. Let’s look at our favorite PS5 game announcements that we think you should know about.
Baby Steps
Release Date: September 8, 2025
A walking sim about a well-built man in a onesie, this game involves stumbling through the wilderness to attend to nature’s call. It doesn’t get weirder than this and we’re here for its odd concept and design. This is perhaps one of our favorite PlayStation State of Play announcements, so we’re off to a strong start.
Silent Hill f
Release Date: September 25, 2025
A title that needs no introductions, this standalone spinoff in the horror genre is set to be one of the most exciting additions to the series.
Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles
Release Date: September 30, 2025
Arriving on the PS4 and PS5, this enhanced version of the 1997 game is pulling fans back in time to experience this strategy RPG with updated graphics, UI, and other quality-of-life features that make it worth reviving in 2025. The structural design of the original game remains unchanged, making this a nostalgia-fueled experience for older gamers.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger
Release Date: October 3, 2025
We can all agree that Pokemon is an iconic, ever-expanding series, but the monster-based story Digimon has held just as relevant of a role in our childhood as the former. This new game showcased among the PS5 game announcements flaunts some psychedelic visuals and fascinating game design, and we’re excited to see how we’ll be able to collect and grow our Digimon in this one.
Cairn
Release Date: November 5, 2025 (Demo available)
A survival game with a new approach, Cairn requires you to climb up steep and well-worn mountain faces to test your endurance and be the daring adventurer you’ve always wanted to be, right from the safety of your home. The visuals are stunning and the stress levels stay high.
Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement
Release Date: 2026
A new chapter of this 2.5D side-scroller will soon be available with two new heroes. Set in the 16th century, this dark and daring action game will bring some exciting fights right to your systems sometime in 2026, and if you like, you can wishlist it right now.
007 First Light
Release Date: 2026
The name’s bond—James Bond, and he’s all set to arrive on the PS5 next year. The trailer for IO Interactive’s third-person action-adventure game looks violent and wonderful, and having just watched the new Mission Impossible movie, we’re in the right mood for some exciting fights and exceptional gadgets that can help get us through our mission.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls
Release Date: 2026
A new addition to the Marvel gaming universe, this new game looks to be the most exciting superhero-based fighting game we’ve seen in a while. From the explosive movement to the colorful graphics, we’re thrilled to see how this title plays out.
Romeo is a Dead Man
Release Date: 2026
Featuring Romeo Stargazer aka Agent Dead Man, the game will have you battling hoards of monsters chasing the most wanted space-time fugitives around. From the art style to the game concept, this Grasshopper Manufacture game is one to look out for next year.
Astro Bot
The Sony gaming showcase also mentioned that five new levels will be introduced to the Game of the Year 2024. The update will also bring Special Bots in-game and a new Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller to showcase your love for the title.

Other Titles Mentioned in the PlayStation Showcase 2025
The PlayStation State of Play event would be incomplete without mention of one of our most anticipated titles of the year, Ghost of Yōtei. With its female protagonist and the samurai-themed gameplay, we expect a peak gaming experience and will settle for nothing else.

We’re Looking Forward to Everything PlayStation Announced
The PlayStation June event did not hold back with the announcements and it’s obvious that there are a lot of interesting titles coming up soon. While many of our favorites from the PlayStation announcements list are 2026 releases, we’re trying to make peace with the wait.
The Sony gaming showcase also revealed Project Defiant, the first wireless fight stick custom-designed by PlayStation to act as a new controller for wireless play. The game stick will launch next year so you have some time to save up before you get your hands on it. All in all, Sony can write off its PlayStation showcase for 2025 as a huge success.
