We’re taking our first step into the month of May, which means there’s a new collection of PlayStation Plus games to look forward to grabbing at once. The PS Plus May 2025 list includes some real heavy hitters like Balatro, a title that has kept gamers hooked to all of their devices since last year.

The free PS5 games offer a good mix of strategy games with immersive titles and will be available to all PS Plus members starting on May 6, 2025. You should also know that the games will be available for members to download until June 2, 2025. If you haven’t invested in a PS Plus membership yet, PlayStation Plus’ official May 2025 list should be just the push you need to put your money where the best games are.

The PlayStation Plus May 2025 games offer Balatro up on a platter.

PS Plus May 2025 Games List—Which Three Fan-Favorites Are Dropping in This Time?

As Sony announces the May 2025 PS Plus lineup, there are three April titles that will leave the free PS Plus 2025 category list by May 5—RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory. While these titles have not enjoyed the same popularity as the PS Plus May 2025 games, they are all interesting and addictive in their own right, particularly the Digimon Story title and its mystery-packed premise.

If you are a PS Plus member and haven’t already added these games to your library, you still have time to do it before they are removed from the catalog. Once you download the title, you can play the game for as long as your membership stays active. If the PlayStation Plus April titles were not to your liking, we’re certain that at least one game from the May 2025 lineup will be worth a shot for you.

The three games included in PlayStation Plus May 2025 games include Balatro, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, and Ark: Survival Ascended. Unfamiliar with them? Here’s what to expect.

Balatro for PS5, PS4

Genre: Roguelike deck builder
Release date: February 20, 2024
Developed by: LocalThunk Inc.
Published by: Playstack Ltd
Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, iOS, Android

If you haven’t already tried this title, PS Plus’ May Balatro release presents a great opportunity to understand why everyone won’t stop talking about this card game like it’s the best invention since sliced bread. The poker-inspired game has been accused of promoting gambling but has been well-defended by fans as a title that merely inspires people to think with the use of cards, and does not promote gambling in any sense of the word.

The game is exceptionally addictive however, as you can spend hours learning combos, mastering unique cards, and playing the best hands the game has to offer to defeat blinds. Easily securing its win as the Game of the Year at the Game Developers Choice Awards last year, Balatro is a title you should consider trying out, just to see why everyone is talking.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun for PS5, PS4

Genre: Sci-fi FPS shooter based on a tabletop game
Release date: May 23, 2023
Developed by: Auroch Digital
Published by: Focus Entertainment
Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S

Stylized after 90’s retro shooters, the visual aesthetics of Warhammer 40: Boltgun may not appeal to all gamers, but there’s something that’s quite charming about this action-packed FPS shooter that may just win you over.

As a Space Marine Sternguard in an overpowered mech suit, you get to stop around and blast your enemies into oblivion to reach your objective. The story is sparse but the action leads the way, giving you a chance to prove yourself with every level. Last year’s Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader was a big hit with gamers, but this free title is no different.

Ark: Survival Ascended for PS5

Genre: Multiplayer action-adventure survival game
Release date: October 25, 2023
Developed by: Studio Wildcard, Grove Street Games, Instinct Games S.A.E.
Published by: Studio Wildcard, Snail Games
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S

The most outlandish of the PlayStation Plus May 2025 games, Ark: Survival Ascended gives you the chance to do what you’ve always wanted—tame and breed dinosaurs. Of course that isn’t all there is to the gameplay, but we’re certain it’s enough to pique your interest. Despite its middling reviews and scores, the survival game involves a considerable amount of crafting and building either individually or with other players as a tribe.

The PvP battles and enemy raids offer a multiplayer component that some might enjoy, but you can also choose to survive the game all on your own. As you gather resources and start building on your island, many challenges of the primitive world present themselves so you can learn to overcome this. Essentially a remake of the 2015 release Ark: Survival Evolved, the game provides a decent visual upgrade and other quality improvements that make it worth a shot.

Are You Satisfied with the PlayStation Plus Official May 2025 List?

The PS Plus May 2025 games offer us a good mix of familiar titles and ones we haven’t thought of in a while, which is what we like to see from the free PS 5 games. While fans had hoped that Until Dawn Remastered would feature on the PlayStation Plus official May 2025 list, some rumors indicate that it may be reserved for July instead.

For now, Balatro, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, and Ark: Survival Ascended are all games that we’re excited about returning to, and we think that many gamers will feel the same. With other mainstream April releases like Blue Prince, Elder Scroll IV: Oblivion, and Clair Obscur Expedition 33 that have captivated us, and DOOM: The Dark Ages coming out in May, we expect we’ll have enough to keep us busy.
