A remake of the Original Silent Hill game looms on the horizon, but it’s a blurry promise at best. Konami’s recent Press Start presentation just revealed a teaser for the remake, alluding to the fact that Bloober Team, the developers still riding the high of the Silent Hill 2 remake from last year, was already working on revamping the old game.
Konami’s confirmation of the remake gave very little away in the process, focusing most of the attention on other games that were closer to their release dates. Games like Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater, Darwin’s Paradox, and Suikoden Starleap, got full trailer reveals, along with a sneak peek at Silent Hill f and the work that has gone into the development of the game. The remake of Silent Hill 1 was confirmed with a single still at the end of the presentation, which left fans stunned and curious for more.

An Original Silent Hill Remake has Been Promised by Konami
Konami knows when it has a hit on its hands and it isn’t afraid of making the most of the opportunities it presents. The original Silent Hill game was released all the way back in 1999, developed by Team Silent, and published by Konami. Team Silent kept up with the next three games, after which Western developers eventually took on productions.
Since then, we’ve had many sequels, spinoffs, and new mailing games appear in the series and they’ve all enjoyed varying degrees of success. Silent Hill is such a successful horror franchise that it has even branched off into mobile games, visual novels, and movies, but the games enjoy a very unique degree of fame.
We first got an inkling of Bloober Team’s new Silent Hill game around February, when the company revealed that it had signed up to develop another game for Konami. Taking the success of the Silent Hill 2 remake into consideration, it was obvious that the Bloober Team was keen on remaking another one of the games from the IP. The quick pace at which the Silent Hill 2 remake sold 2 million copies set a pretty good precedent for their collaboration.
With the recent Silent Hill announcement, nothing was said directly, the only visual a smoke filled screen confirming the game was in development between Konami and Bloober Team.
Silent Hill f Is Gearing Up For Release
The Silent Hill announcement was a tad bit overshadowed by the release of Silent Hill f, the latest entry to the series coming out on September 25, 2025. Surprisingly, this is the first game set in Japan, bringing on all the magic of a rural town in amping up the horror factor. With high school student Hinako Shimizu at the center of the game, the new entry is expected to be slightly different in tone but should still cater to the audience’s need for something terrifying.
This particular game is being developed by NeoBards Entertainment Ltd so it’s going to be interesting to see how they adapt the IP and still keep the spirit of the original Silent Hill series alive in the game. The story has been developed by the famous writer Ryukishi0, creator of the When They Cry visual novel series, so he has considerable experience in working with horror.
The Silent Hill Announcement Has Us on the Edge of Our Seats
Now that the remake of Silent Hill 1 has been confirmed, we’ll see the original protagonist Harry Mason come alive once more and join his search for his missing daughter. The choose-you-own-adventure type of ending in the original Silent Hill game was extremely popular, and we expect that this will also do just as well. We aren’t always the biggest fans of remakes, but with Bloober Team’s previous success and the other recent remakes that have revived our love for old forgotten titles, we’re quite excited.
The remake of the original Silent Hill aside, we also have Silent Hill: Townfall in the works. Developed by No Code and published by Annapurna Interactive, this spin-off game has been in production since 2022. We’re hoping to see more announcements regarding its release this year, but the game makers don’t appear to have an update for us just yet.
Both the remake of the original Silent Hill and Silent Hill: Townfall are unlikely to be released any time this year, so it’ll be a while before you get to sit down with the series again unless Silent Hill f is a resounding success.
