The new year is just a month away and the next cycle of tech releases is just as close, with Samsung Galaxy S24 leaks picking up some steam. Samsung’s next smartphone appears to be taking a break from the Flip and Fold series, with Samsung Galaxy S24 rumors matching the phone up to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. With a potential Galaxy S24 release date set for 17 January, we will likely see the device pretty soon but the Galaxy S24 features and specs might be interesting to discuss until the phone hits the market.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Leaks—Are We Leaving Curved Screens Behind?
The Samsung Galaxy S24 rumors have not been plentiful but the little we know has been stirring up some dust. Images from Twitter/X user David Martin appear to have been the source of the most recent updates on the phone, with the science and technology page Ice Universe adding some credence to the Samsung Galaxy S24 leaks.

The most discussed detail of the Galaxy S24 features and specs appears to be the absence of a curved screen with the new model. Samsung has unhesitatingly championed the curved screen for a while now, and other brands have also followed their lead. The curved design has been quite nice to look at, cutting down on the boxy appearance of smartphones and eliminating the prominent appearance of the bezel on these devices. However, apart from pushing up the prices of smartphones themselves, they have also been harder to maintain and replace. The Samsung Galaxy S24 leaks indicate that the company might be returning to a flat screen, a decision that is controversial among fans of the older devices.
The display change appears to have made the device appear thicker as well, although it is unlikely the device has actually increased in size. 9to5Google’s analysis of the Samsung Galaxy S24 rumors mentions a possibility of a titanium edge, similar to the design Apple has showcased with the iPhone 15 Pro. The leaked images aren’t very easy to decipher on this front so we’ll have to wait for additional confirmation from Samsung.
What Else Have the Samsung Galaxy S24 Rumors Revealed?
To be fair, there is little else that is known about the Galaxy S24 from the rumor mills. The Samsung Galaxy S24 leaks show that the phone will retain the same camera design as its predecessors, with the rear cameras housed in individual metal rings, placed down the side of the silver phone. Working on integration with prominent apps and services, rumors indicate that the device will include a shortcut to their Instagram camera right on the lock screens. For those who rely on the Instagram camera for its filters and features, this might be a handy service to have available.
GSM Arena’s coverage of the leaked Galaxy S24 features and specs has covered the basic hardware dimensions of the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. The two lower-end models appear to have more of a curved edge than the S24 Ultra, and while the renders that have been pictured have been painted white, the Samsung Galaxy S24 leaks have hinted at four color options. There could be additional options exclusively available on the Samsung store.
The rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra also indicate a peak brightness of 2500 nits, up from the S23’s 1750 nits performance. The new series should have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC powering the smartphones, with a possibility of storage up to 2TB on the S24 Ultra. The smaller models could feature the Exynos 2400 chips instead of the Qualcomm offering.
Samsung AI—The Gaussian Stand
Earlier in November, Samsung announced its very own generative AI model that is set to make a debut. The live call translation feature has been generating a lot of conversation around its potential to transform communication. According to the company, their native AI Gauss will be able to translate phone calls and provide a translated caption to open up communication across borders. The AI model is made up of three wings—Samsung Gauss Language, Samsung Gauss Code, and Samsung Gauss Image. The AI should assist with composing emails, coding support, summarizing documents, editing images, changing image quality, etc.
The degree of integration of the AI assistant into the Samsung Galaxy S24 is still unconfirmed but rumors do suggest its presence, which could be the major selling point of the device. There is no confirmed news of the Galaxy S24 price but outlets like Laptop Mag estimate that the Galaxy S24 Ultra could be priced between $1,199 and $1,399. The Galaxy S24 release date has been rumored to have been set for 17 January through a special event, with outlet availability marked for 30 January. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd was recently recognized by Interbrand as a “Global Top 5” for the fourth year in a row with its brand value reaching $91.4 billion with a 4 percent year-on-year growth. With the new releases lined up for 2024, the company should hopefully be able to hold on to its success.
