We finally have a release date for TMNT: Splintered Fate’s arrival on the Switch—July 17. Previously an exclusive that was available only on Apple Arcade, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game was slated for a Nintendo Switch release without any update on when it could be expected. Just as fans began turning their attention back to the other TMNT game coming later this year—Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed—a date for the roguelike game was formally announced. The timed exclusive of TMNT: Splintered Fate on Nintendo Switch is exciting but one point that stands out is that the game is not currently getting a physical release.

TMNT: Splintered Fate to Arrive on Switch: Release Date Set for July 17, 2024
Before TMNT: Splintered Fate was moving to the Switch, the game was released for iPhone and iPad users. Initially launched on May 4, 2023, by developer Paramount Global and published by Viacom International Inc., the game was compared to Hades repeatedly. For some this was discouraging as they felt there was nothing to really distinguish the experience from the 2020 roguelike action-adventure game, however, a large majority of players seemed to enjoy the experience and the stage-by-stage leveling the game offered.
Now that the TMNT: Splintered Fate release date has been set for the Switch, it appears our favorite sewer boys will bring the same experience to the device without too many edits. With Publisher Super Evil Megacorp at the helm, the 1.4 GB game is currently available for preorder.
What is the TMNT: Splintered Fate Nintendo Game About?
In the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Donatello set off to save the master Splinter after he’s kidnapped by the familiar supervillain Shredder. As they journey towards rescuing the adoptive father and sensei, the ninja turtles also try to solve the mystery of the mysterious portals that are appearing across New York City. As allies April and Robot Metalhead try to decode the clues and artifacts you find, you’re faced with new and novel challenges that keep you on your toes.
In the TMNT: Splintered Fate Switch game, you get to have a co-op experience of up to four players, each taking on the role of one of the mutant ninja turtles, all of them equipped with different skills and powers. As you beat back the Foot Clan, iconic villains like Rocksteady and Bebop also make an appearance in the game, giving you a range of enemies to take down.
The game asks you to “brace yourself for fast-paced, roguelike action where no two runs are the same. With randomized power-ups, room layouts, and boss modifiers, the excitement never ends,” and from the existing version of the game, that seems true enough. The variability of the boosts that you receive and the gradual leveling up of power should guarantee that you have a unique experience every time you log in.

Are You Going to Buy TMNT: Splintered Fate?
The colorful visuals of the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game look amazing and it’s nice to take a break from the “Beat ‘Em Up” style that games inspired by the series traditionally take on, to experience something different. Whether you prefer a solo experience or want to take on the game in a co-op style, the fast-paced fluid combat will not let you down. Additionally, the fact that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book author Tom Waltz had a role in co-writing the story should give you the stamp of approval you need to invest in the game.
For fans eager to buy TMNT: Splintered Fate, the game is available for pre-orders right now, priced at $29.99 USD. As we get closer to the TMNT: Splintered Fate release date, we may hear more about a physical release, but that appears to be out of the question for now.
