Also known as electronic locks, Smart lock systems, are the latest innovation doing rounds in the world of technology since last few years. A smart lock is a better technique to spare an individual the unnecessary hassle of looking around for keys in pocket or bag. The advanced lock system has made it easy to synchronize a smart lock and smartphone by adding security and convenience.

This Instructable is for Access Control System based on Raspberry Pi that uses an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Device) tag reader system for allowing automatic entry through the security system enabled door. We can use this custom DIY for members to maintain secure access.

Using PIN entry system and RFID tag reader, get secure access to departments, rooms, and buildings in a controlled, cost-minimizing, and efficient way.

The front-end secure management can be built by collaborating BootStrap with AngularJS. The entries can be verified using RFID Key Fob, integrated ID card, or customized door number as entered by a user. Custom LEDs will notify if access is denied or granted. Green for access granted and Red for access denied.

The hardware and wiring prototype of this system consists of a Monitor equipped with a temperature sensor, motion detector, RAM, memory usage stats, and CPU. For the prototype, you can also use any component or sensor compatible with Raspberry Pi or Arduino.

The configurations for network settings of the device can be set anywhere after embedding the information in the tag and integrating it into your computer system, where the entire activity is entered into the central system.

This efficient custom DIY based on Raspberry Pi system costs no more than $100.00 and it can be used for any product or application.

Requirements: Power Supply, HID RFID Reader, Proto board (Half sized), Raspberry Pi B+, Relay, Door Strike (12V approx.), Downgrade cable B+, 4 Channel Level Shifter (i2c compatibility may require), HID cards (125 KHz), Spring Terminals (2 Three Pin or 1 Six Pin), DC-DC converter (12V – 5V), and LED (Diode to prevent Pi reverse bias).
