Severance’s minimalist, retro-futuristic atmosphere has hooked its audience in more ways than one, and we know we’re not alone in wondering if a severed innie may be the solution to putting up with work every day. While no one has managed to duplicate the Lumon world quite yet, there’s a new Severance-inspired keyboard you can get your hands on, to get into the mood to refine your own work with the same concentration that Mark initially brought to the table.

The Atomic MDR Dasher is a limited edition Severance keyboard that imitates the visual aesthetic of the setup we saw in the TV show. Finding the perfect mechanical keyboard for your interest and aesthetic preferences is an art in its own right, but even if you’re not a fan of the show, the trackball integration on the Severance keyboard and its overall style might be worth a consideration.

A Severance-inspired keyboard may be just what you need to remind yourself you have a life outside of work unlike those on the show.

Meet the the Atomic MDR Dasher, a Severance-Inspired Keyboard

Produced by Atomic, a company specializing in tech replicas, the Atomic MDR Dasher is modeled after the keyboard used by the Macrodata Refinement (MDR) department in Severance, capturing the show’s retro aesthetic. The “Lumon blue” color is a perfect balance between colorful and neutral, adding some style to your setup without going electric.

Unlike Apple’s playful listing of the “Lumon Terminal Pro” on its website, the limited edition Severance keyboard is a real product that you can get your hands typing away on soon enough. Staying true to form, the Atomic MDR Dasher comes with some missing keys that you would expect on a traditional keyboard, so if you’re overly used to relying on the full range of buttons on your current desktop clacker, this one may not be for you.

The Severance keyboards are inspired by the Data General Dasher terminal keyboards from the late 1970s, which is why the company chose to name this the Atomic MDR Dasher. That’s not all we know about the gadget.

Design of the Severance x Lumon Keyboard

For most people, buying a keyboard just to display in your room is not a very sensible decision, so if you’re wondering if the Atomic MDR Dasher is functional, it most certainly is. The keyboard is built with an aluminum case and has a raised, boxy, mechanical build with a uniquely centered layout.

The light blue keys contrast well with the other darker blue keys, and they collectively stand apart from the white-rimmed edges in a very pleasing style.

The Atomic Severance keyboard’s design aesthetic aside, on a more practical level, it features a 73-key 70% layout and an unusually high placement for the arrow keys. The keyboard also replaces the need for a traditional mouse with a trackball, so that might take some getting used to if you’re unfamiliar with them.

The trackball integration is the most interesting feature of the Severance keyboard in real life.

The Severance-Inspired Keyboard Is Missing Some Key Features

Keeping with the show’s theme of being trapped on the flip side, the Severance-themed keyboard does not have an escape key. You also don’t get control and option keys, so if you really need these to work comfortably without missing a beat, the Lumon-approved piece may not be ideal for you.

The keyboard has USB-C connection and is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux, so you don’t have to worry about struggling to pair it up with your existing systems. The gadget is odd certainly, but it still functions as expected, much like other odd gadgets—the ASUS fragrance mouse or the Corsair Xeneon Flex bendable monitor, for example—we’ve seen before.

Interested in the Severance Keyboard Preorder Process?

Bringing the Severance keyboard to real life is possible but it won’t come for cheap. The Atomic MDR Dasher is expected to be available for the price of about $400, but this is just a suggested price. Atomic has not released a final price for the keyboard and it could be higher on launch in response to the tariffs.

There is no confirmed release date for this keyboard so if you’re interested in getting your hands on it, your best bet is to go to the website, and sign up on the mailing list so you can be notified as soon as it becomes available. Atomic asks that you “Please try to enjoy each keystroke equally,” and we if were typing away on that gorgeous tactile keyboard instead of the one attached to our laptops, we’re sure we would.
