We have some good and some bad news. Xbox prices have been hiked worldwide so those who were waiting for their paychecks to come in will have to take another look to decide if the consoles and games are still worth the price. On the other hand, for those who already own the console, the Xbox Game Pass May 2025 lineup looks really interesting, particularly because Doom: The Dark Ages will be available with its day one release.

Of course, there are some Xbox Game Pass April 2025 games leaving the collection as well so it isn’t all sunshine and roses. The Xbox Game Pass May lineup also includes some interesting names like Anno 1800 and Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, so if you haven’t had much to look forward to, consider this your chance to try out some titles you haven’t yet.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Subscribers.

Before We Get to the Xbox Game Pass May 2025 Lineup, What Do We Know About the Price Hike?

By now, everyone has felt the pinch of the tariffs in one way or another, and for gamers, the reality of its effects first took shape with the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 and its pricing strategy. Early last month, Sony officially confirmed that the price of the PlayStation 5 was going up by 25% citing a “challenging economic environment, including high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates.” Now it’s Xbox’s turn to hike the price.

Unfortunately, not only are Xbox consoles facing a price hike, but digital games are also being bumped up to compensate for their challenges. Some of the game prices for future releases on Xbox will now charge gamers $79.99, so gamers might have to start being more picky about which titles they invest in.

Xbox Price Hike List

Starting May 1, 2025, the Xbox tariff effect looks something like this:

  • Xbox Series X: From $499.99 to $599.99
  • Xbox Series X digital edition: From $449.99 to $549.99
  • Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Special Edition: From $599.99 to $729.99
  • Xbox Series S 512GB model: From from $299.99 to $379.99
  • Xbox Series S 1TB model: From $349.99 to $429.99
  • Xbox Wireless Controller: $64.99
  • Xbox Wireless Controller (Color): $69.99
  • Xbox Wireless Controller Special Edition: $79.99
  • Xbox Wireless Controller Limited Edition: $89.99
  • Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 (Core): $149.99
  • Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 (Full): $199.99
  • Xbox Wireless Headset: $119.99
  • Xbox Stereo Headset: $64.99

The Xbox headset price hike appears to be limited to the U.S. and Canada, but the rest of the components will become more expensive globally. With the prices going up, we expect that future hardware releases in upcoming years will also be significantly more expensive.

Ready for Doom: The Dark Ages’ release? Some optimism is essential considering all the news we just went over.

No Xbox Game Pass Price Hike Yet

Now that Xbox game prices are expected to go up, it makes a little more sense to have a game pass subscription to access titles directly, even if it only brings a limited list of new games to play. As of now, the Xbox Game Pass price has not been hiked but it could also go up by $10-$20 in coming months.

The Xbox Game Pass already saw a recent change to the pricing and strategy for all tiers, with the Standard tier priced at $14.99 per month, Game Pass Ultimate at $19.99, and PC Game Pass at $11.99 per month. If, despite all odds, you’re still subscribed to the game pass, then you might want to know what benefits it actually offers to you. There was a long list of games that left Xbox Game Pass on April 30, which includes EA Sports NHL 23, Kona 2: Brume, The Last Case of Benedict Fox, and Have a Nice Death, but a few new ones are entering it in May.

Xbox Game Pass May Full Game List
